Obituary for LaVern Jakela (Miller)
LaVern Jakela, age 96, of Donora, PA, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Mon Valley Care Center.
She was born April 6, 1926, in Belle Vernon, PA the daughter of the late Joseph Miller and the late Norma Devesse Miller.
LaVern was a 1944 Graduate of N. Belle Vernon High School. She attended the Allegheny General Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a nurse for many years at the Charleroi-Monessen Hospital and then at Mon Valley Hospital.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Edward A. "Edge" Jakela Sr.; and a sister Jacqueline Johnston.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her son Edward A. "Itch" Jakela Jr.; a brother Charles Miller of SC and her beloved cat Annie.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 40 Second Street Extension, Donora, PA 15033 (724) 379-6900 where family and friends are invited to attend a Remembrance Gathering from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Monday, March 27, 2023. followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM, in the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora, PA
